Democratic Convention Logo 1988
I was asked to design the logo, brochures, mailers, and badges for the 1988 Democratic Party Convention in 1988. Keep in mind, this was before Photoshop, home computers. and photo color copiers existed.
Everything had to be done by hand. Just to make a mock-up sample to show how it would look before printing was very time consuming. Clear plastic overlays to show how each color would look over the text inside the brochure shown was a big project. Cutting and pasting photos, and making drawings showing a diversity of people. I also had to prepare the artwork for the printer, separating all layers in black and white artwork with registration marks to line up, and I used some rub down transfer lettering for the logo.
In addition to the main logo with the stars and stripes, I incorporated my design into two tri-fold brochures and mailers, with printing on the front and back, an envelope, and visitor badges.
It was quite a kick to see my work in the newspaper with my logo poster size on the podium at the Democratic convention as State Rep.Tom Hayden speaks!
